A practical checklist for first-time buyers evaluating a new agricultural export supplier from India — what to ask, what to verify, and what red flags to watch for.
Choosing a new export supplier — especially for a first order — comes with real due-diligence questions. Here is a practical checklist we recommend to buyers evaluating any Indian agri-export supplier, including us.
A supplier who can provide moisture content, grain/particle size, packaging options and HS code references for a specific product is generally more reliable than one offering only a product name and price.
Confirm upfront what export documentation is included — commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and phytosanitary certificate where applicable. Ask who prepares these and how long it typically takes after order confirmation.
Most established exporters will accommodate a small sample shipment or share a recent lab report before you commit to a full container. Hesitation here is worth noting.
Not every buyer is ready to commit to a full 20ft container on a first order. Ask whether mixed-container consolidation or smaller trial quantities are possible — a supplier with no flexibility at all may not be set up for new buyer relationships.
Specification, packaging, quantity, price and delivery terms (Incoterms) should all be confirmed in writing — a written quotation, not just a verbal or chat-based agreement — before goods are packed and shipped.
If you're evaluating SATA GreenX Global Exim against this checklist, our product pages list specifications for every item we export, and our export team is happy to answer any of the questions above directly.
